Well what a shit show 24 hours...I don't think I like April 16!!!!!
Bad things happen in threes but must they all be in a 24 hour period!!!
So started with my friend Richard who is staying with me for a bit while touring around CR on a motorbike...
2 nights ago around 12:30 am he comes home and his face is all smashed up as he wiped out on his bike on the dirt road and must have hit a rock...helmet hanging off the back like a Tico!
So off we go to Nicoya hospital in the middle of the night...they stitch up his forehead but send him to San Jose by ambulance to repair his eye...
I get home about 6 am get a couple of hours sleep before the hospital in San Jose calls me to ask a bunch of questions...get a couple more hours sleep and Daniela calls me from the bakery hysterical, Xinia has passed out on the kitchen floor!
Her husband gets there before me and takes her to Nicoya hospital...
It was an anemia thing, she is fine and had to argue with her to take today off...God love her!!
Richard calls me about 6 pm to let me know they are bringing him back to Nicoya now and will be releasing him...
So get home from the bakery around 8 pm, grab a couple of hours sleep and leave around 11:30 pm when Richard calls to go pick him up, Arno comes with me for support...
Just as we are turning into the hospital a nut high on something barrels up behind me with a pale blue light for a head light that I only saw after the accident
and passes me on the left as I am making a left at a green light!!!
Tons of room on the right hand side for him to pass...
He must have been doing 100 KM/hr
Takes out the front driver's side of my car and goes crashing down the road...
Arno and I thought the two guys are dead!
So luckily we are in front of the hospital...lots of people around!!!
But then it starts to get fishy, the ambulance take the guy and his passenger inside for medical attention (they are both fine BTW)
and the guys friends show up and want to start moving the bike...trying to start it...so I walk over and start taking pictures of everything and tell them please do not touch anything until the cops come...
The friends says NO!!! Don't call the cops, I will pay for the repairs of your car and opens his wallet...
I say to him Really? There is at least $2000 USD of damages to the car...
I doubt you carry that with you...
He says but my friends bike is not legal...no valid plates, so no insurance...I said I am truly sorry but I have insurance and the cops have already been called...
So on Monday I am off to Nicoya for the day to take Richard tot he hospital for a follow up, to the court house to sort out this accident and to INS the insurance company to sort out getting my car fixed and then to my favorite body shop to make an appointment to drop of the car so they can get the estimate for together for INS. Then I will have to drop the car off for a week or so when they have all the parts in to get the repairs done...
In the end all that counts is everyone is OK!
Pura Vida!!
