Fun night out last night...Liane & Jeff are back in town...So along with Kat & Arno we headed to Hula Jungle for Kareoke night...

So wedding cake for Barcelo isn't until August...Not sure if we got it or not yet...

Another busy week and Xinia is off sick...so working a lot!

Chill day off yesterday, spent going for a walk on the beach, into Samara to get some groceries and then home to lay on the couch and watch a movie...perfect!

Today received an email from the Barcelo Resort in Playa Langosta up in Tamarindo

for a wedding cake request!

This is awesome, hope we get the job...

Word is spreading!

Awesome dinner with Arno at El Lagarto, then over to Zen Den for a couple of beers and

nightcap at El Colibri on our way home!

So last weekend I had an eye doctor's appointment for 3000 colones, $6 and bought new glasses for

60000 colones, $120, just picked them up seem to be good, can't wear them all the time when they are new anyways...but they seem good!

Went swimming at the beach in the morning and then to Vela Latina for a bucket of beers and some sushi

Not much exciting going on...working at the bakery and going home to rest up for tomorrow LOL

Classic Small World situation!

A couple with 2 young boys come into the bakery for some ice cream, I hear them speak French so I switch to French...I hear the husband also speak in English so I think must be from MTL if they flip back & forth like that...So he asks where are you from, I say MTL, Ville St Pierre actually and he says Wow me too! Do you know the Cordon?

LMAO I say yes my dad and his brother probably bought half the bar stools there...He say well me and my partners owned that and a few other places, I say yes like the gas station just up the road right? He says yes and I say my uncle George worked there for year and he's OMG George is your uncle? LMAO

He said he met Therry Parker at George's funeral his name is Francois.

So I ask are you staying in the area and they say yes we are at Hotel La Tropicale - Playa Carrillo, Costa Rica, and I said apparently we were supposed to meet since that is my friend Arno's place!

So I spent Wednesday asking people about tires in CR, and apparently this is normal that if you get 35000km out of a set of tires you are lucky!!!

So went to Nicoya yesterday to get my Patente, only 6 people ahead of me Woo Hoo!!

Then went and got the other 2 tires and and oil change on the car,

we are now $500 lighter (oil change is $100) but good to go and safe!

Had a nice lunch with Kath while waiting for car.

Bakery thank goodness is bloody busy...this morning orders for 5 cakes before noon!

Wedding cake tomorrow...

January 8

Fun road trip to SJO!

Out of Carrillo at 5am...

Poor Jeff's ribs are very sore, lots of bumps on the road to SJO,

a lot of groans from the back seat LOL

So got to SJO, started to run some errands, went to drop off Jeff & Liane at the Budget rent a car office, waiting to make a turn and POW!!!

What was that? Blew a tire while sitting still!!!

Make the turn, get out look at the tire and yep it's flat, Jeff wants to help but NO silly you are injured, Arno say Jeff I can be manly!!

So Arno starts to try to undo the nuts like a gay guy LMAO

Lasted about 1 minute and a guy from the Budget garage came out with a proper jack and said can I please help you...

5 minutes later tire changed and directions to nearest tire place, leave Jeff and Liane to continue their adventure and we are off to get the tire fixed...

Around the block we go to the Firestone Tire place, ask the guy can you fix my flat tire, sure no problem...

Pulls it out of the car, takes it over to have a look at it, no repair, sidewall is blown out...then he saiys these tires are bald anyways you need new ones...

I think BS this is just a ploy to sell tires...my car is new...only has 22500 KM on it!

Well I get a close look at the tire, walk over to the car and look at the other tires and Holy $^@#$

my tires are done!!!!

57000 a tire ($114) I say but buddy I need you to put a number in the discount percentage box on the computer...I cannot ever pay full price for anything...so he says will you pay cash? Off course cash is king!

So got 2 tires for 100000 ($200)

Could only get two at this time as I did not bring cash for 4 tires with me!

So Arno and I head off to the diner across the street for some lunch while they do their thing...

I order up a grilled chicken sandwich and fries and Arno orders a 1/4 lb burger and fries

I think on Arno's they meant each bite was 1/4 lb!!!

We laughed so hard when the burger arrived!

So back to the garage, all good, off we go to finish running errand, Kath phone, flight is delayed out of TO due to cold, tires are sticking to runway!

She finally lands at 3pm, we are off to pick her up and head for the beach!

Long day home at 9pm

January 7

Well Pura Vida!

Ran into Nicoya yesterday to get my Patente (Municipal business license) renewed,

apparently the whole township's Patentes expire December 31!!!!!

So got to the Muni and pulled number 176 only to look up and see they were at number 75...

needless to say that quickly turned into I will come back another day!
Jeff and Liane came back last night, pretty banged up...they went to Nosara for the weekend and rented a quad and flipped it over...very sore ribs and lost of wounded flesh...

Off to SJO to run errands, drop off Liane & Jeff and pick up Katherine
